Course Description

This is the first of two courses that make up the Business Architecture Certificate. Business Architecture is the bridge between business strategy and business execution. Understanding the Business focuses on the “front stage” of business architecture which includes understanding the business environment and customer segment to define value streams and journey maps. The traditional format of offering courses in the evening makes it easier for those who cannot leave their jobs during the workday to attend this class – conveniently offered in the Midway area between the downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Using a case study throughout the course to illustrate the concepts, this course provides guided practice for participants to use business architecture tools that help understand the business of the organization.  The last module is a case study that requires participants to independently apply tools.  Participants leave the course with the ability to apply these same tools in their organization to understand the business.  See the Competencies tab for a more detailed course outline.
