Course Description

As a project manager, there will be many times when you are managing a project team where the team members do not have the luxury of devoting 100% of their time to your project. And, while doing a great Kick-Off meeting can generate excitement, it is often difficult to keep your sponsor, team members, and stakeholders fully engaged with your project – even with colorful graphic progress charts. Project managers need to manage the emotions that accompany project work. Apply theory from Daniel Pink’s book, To Sell is Human: The Surprising Truth to Motivating Others to discover and apply tools to move people to complete the work you need for a successful project.

After taking this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand how executing projects is directly related to your ability to motivate people
  2. Develop a sales lens to view and motivate people in your role as project manager
  3. Define Attunement and apply its principles to leading projects
  4. Build Buoyancy and apply it to project management
  5. Extract Clarity to effectively manage projects
  6. Devise an immediate plan to increase your influence as a project manager

Suggested prerequisites: Building the Business Case for Change and Leading Key Stakeholders Through Change. These two courses will help you ascertain the tangible benefits of your project proposal and identify the people you need to influence to successfully execute your project.
