Business capabilities are the stable building blocks of any organization that enable it to perform business activities successfully. They are what (not how) your business does. A map of those capabilities defines the existing processes and functions needed for the business to run.  Mapping takes complex processes to make it easier to see redundancies and where alignment should occur.  Capability mapping helps the organization focus on the actions that will be most impactful in executing strategy.
