Business Architect Certificate Program

Drawing on the variety of experiences and background of the cohort group, the certificate is a rigorous, non-credit training program designed and delivered by practicing business architects teaching face-to-face in the classroom.

The certificate delivers a deeper understanding of the discipline, skills, and techniques to succeed in a business architect role, along with:

  • Increased professional skills
  • Opportunities to network with other professionals
  • Enhanced career advancement prospects
  • Increased capacity to help result issues currently facing your organization

The course cumulates with a project on applying business architecture theory to a workplace situation.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with instructors to receive advice on a specific situation they are encountering in the workplace.   These meetings will be optional and in addition to the regularly scheduled class times. Limited time slots; however, enough for each participant to receive one consultation.

After completing the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Articulate the business need and value of business architecture
  2. Understand how this discipline relates to others in the organization
  3. Identify current state:
    1. Understand an organization through the business architecture lens
    2. Model an organization’s capabilities, value streams, and processes
    3. Show the intersection between the business and technology
    4. Visualize how the organization’s workforce impacts its capabilities
  4. Define the future state:
    1. Map the organization’s strategy, direction, and intent
    2. Interview leaders
    3. Depict a future state business model
    4. Understand and analyze the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of an organization
    5. Determine and model the maturity and gaps of an organization’s capabilities and create roadmaps to fill the gaps and address priorities
  5. Be an effective Business Architect:
    1. Understand and demonstrate the value of storytelling
    2. Manage upward to sponsors and stakeholders
    3. Identify an organization’s power network
    4. Create a personal brand

This course does not have a prerequisite.  Membership is not included in the certificate tuition.

Cancellation Policy:

Class cancellations must be done fourteen full business days before the class start date.  No refunds for cancellations of less than fourteen full business days.  No Shows/Missed Classes – Refunds will not be issued for any missed class.  Late Arrivals/Early Departures – Metropolitan State University reserves the right to decrease continuing education units issued for late arrivals and early departures.  Written confirmation will be sent to you a week before class.  If a class is canceled, you will be contacted by phone, mail, or email.  Metropolitan State University reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, such as weather (a full refund will be granted).
